MSFTI film appreciation course ends

The 15-day film appreciation course organised by Manipur State Film & Television Institution (MSFTI) under the aegis of Department of Art and Culture, and in association with International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) concluded at The Castle Hotel, Palace Compound, here, on Tuesday.
Dr Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute, Guwahati's head of department of audiography and sound engineering professor Farooque Iqbal, Assam University's associate professor Meenakshi Dutta, FIPRESCI member Premendra Mazumdar, MSFTI director Birendra Salam and MSFDS secretary B Sanzu Sharma attended the closing ceremony as dais members.
Speaking on the occasion, Birendra informed that the course was organised with the objective to update knowledge and skills of filmmakers in the state.
Topics like evolution of cinema, film theories, cultural theories, traditional media, art forms, digital revolution and regional as well as Manipuri cinemas were covered in the course.
Resource persons also deliberated on topics like institutionalisation of film production, and future perspective of Manipuri films among others.
A 28-minute short film titled 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' was screened during the closing ceremony after which certificates were distributed to the participants.
Altogether 27 delegates attended the 15-day course which was conducted at the theatre room of MSFTI.
Films were screened every day and discussions held on the films shown on the previous day during the entire duration of the course, which was conducted from 10.30 am till 6 pm daily.
