Heroin, brown sugar seized, two held

Imphal, April 11 2023:
As part of the "War on Drugs" campaign launched under the initiative of CM Biren Singh, Kakching district police arrested two people and recovered 196 grams of Heroin from their possession on Tuesday.
The two arrested people have been identified as Doungul Ngamkhomang (34) S/o Dongthang Haokip of New Wayang village, Chakpikarong under Chandel district and Lamjaneng Touthang (21) D/o Hemkhosei Touthang of Yangoulen village, Khengjoy, Moreh, Chandel.
According to police report, the arrest and seizure was done by a CDO team led by HC Kh Shyamsunder Singh while conducting random frisking at Serou Lamkhai.
Sixteen number of soap cases containing suspected Heroin were recovered during body search of the arrested duo.
Upon weighing, the suspected Heroin was found to be approximately 196 grams excluding the weight of soap cases.
The arrested people along with the seized articles have been handed over to Sugnu PS for taking further necessary action.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) recovered 730 gram (with soap cases) of brown sugar worth Rs 1.13 crore on Monday at general area T Khongkhai village.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that based on the input received from own source with respect to an individual carrying contraband items from across Indo-Myanmar border, a MVCP was launched at general area T secretary Ksh Johnson rescued the wild boar from the village and handed it over to Manipur Zoological Garden, Iroisemba director Biraman-gol on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, JCCWB has thanked Senapati district administration and district police for their help in transportation of the rescued wild boar from Senapati to Imphal.

At approximately 11.30 pm, the MVCP noticed an individual approaching towards the MVCP from Khaukal village.
After noticing the presence of Assam Rifles troops in, the individual on Kenbo bike moved towards Tuddim village and a bag was slipped down from his shoulder.
On reaching the site, MVCP column found 18 soap cases of brown sugar inside the bag.
The recovered drugs have been handed over to Sangaikot police station for further necessary action.
