CCpur, April 11 2023:
KSO Churachandpur, ZSF Ghqs and RPZI representatives today stalled a land survey and geo-tagging exercise of the proposed Churachandpur-Khoupum Reserved Forest which is said to cover many settlements within and in the outskirts of Churachandpur town.
As news about the land survey conducted by Revenue and Forest officials spread for the past few days, KSO, ZSF and RPZI teamed up to oppose the move.
As they waited for the survey officials at Headquarters Veng, they learnt about the presence of survey officials at Sielmat and they soon headed towards the village.
There they met the survey officials and inquired about the survey work.
Upon learning that they (officials) have completed geo-tagging at Headquarters Veng and are in the process of geo-tagging Sielmat, the representatives of the student bodies told them to immediately halt their work.
They also told the officials that land survey must not be conducted without the knowledge and consent of the village chiefs concerned, and warned that anyone who ignores their request will be dealt with as deemed fit.
