Vehicle lifter nabbed; liquor outlets raided, two held

Imphal, April 11 2023:
Traffic control police apprehended a young man who was trying to steal a TVS Jupiter (MN06SF 0331) from near Nirmalabas School, MG Avenue, here, on Tuesday morning.
The arrested vehicle lifter has been identified as Makakmayum Sajid Khan (23), son of Md Farijuddin Khan of Kshetrigao, but presently staying at Hatta Golapati, Imphal East.
Police source said that he was trying to steal the scooter around 9am when traffic control police personnel caught him.
He has been handed over to City police station for further legal actions.
On the other-hand, a team of Imphal East district police led by additional SP (LO) Pramesh Arambam raided a store house located at Khurai Lamlong and seized large quantity of foreign liquor on Tuesday.
According to police source, the raid conducted around 11.30 am led to the recovery of liquor imported from Myanmar.
Store's care taker identified as Nandeibam Surjit (42), son of (late) Manglem of khurai Thongam Leikai, has also been arrested.
The seized alcoholic drinks include 24 bottles of Corona beer, 96 bottles (175 ml) of Imperial Whiskey, 34 bottles (1 litre) of Red Label, 8 bottles (1 litre) of Black Label, 16 bottles of Carlo Rossi red wine, 520 bottles (360 ml) of Oppa Korean wine, 72 bottles (750 ml), Pure No 1 Myanmar beer and 2840 bottles of (750 ml) Power Juice, the police informed, adding that, the arrestee along with the seized items has been handed oyer to the Excise Department for further investigations.
On Monday too, a team of Imphal West police commando unit had seized a large cache of IMFL liquor from People Store, Lamphel Sanakeithel.
According to a police report, the commando unit searched People Store, Lamphel Sanakeithel (Thangmeiband Khomdrom Selungba Leikai) around 6.30 pm and recovered large number of IMFL and beer and arrested the owner of the store identified as Salam Sancha alias Deepak.
The seized items and the arrested person have been handed over to Excise Department for further action.
