SIRTI Football: Japhou A emerge champ

The 8th SIRTI (Monsang) Football tournament 2014, organized under the aegis of Sirti Olympic Association (SOA) concluded today at Liwa Sarei Village in Chandel District with Japhou-A winning the Championship title.
The tournament which was started from January 15 at Liwa Sarei with President, SOA Ts Kothar and Chief of Liwa Sarei, Ts Ngamtin as Chief guest and Guest of Honour respectively, was participated by 7 women, 7 veteran and 11 open men's team from various Monsang Clubs.

The finals of the women and veteran categories were held on February 8 with Kl Hringkham, MCS, District family welfare Officer; Dr Ng Romy and Principal of Maha Union Govt Higher secondary School, Japhou as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.
In the keenly contested finals, Japhou blanked out Monsang Pantha 2-0 in the women's category while Japhou-B Veterans overcame Liwa Sarei Veterans via tie breaker after being locked at 1-1 during the normal time.
Whereas in today's open men's final, Japhou-A claimed the title after defeating Changning�A, 6-1 .
Japhou's W Helky (Jersey No 6) netted the first goal in the 12th min.
He was joined by Ts Wartung (Jersey No.9) who added one goal in the 42nd min.
On the other hand, the first goal in favour of Changning came from Monigwar (Jersey no.12) in the 43rd min thereby helping his team to reduce the score margin by 1 at the end of the first half.
During the second half, Sh Alfred (Jersey No 20) from Japhou kicked two goals for his team in the 49th and 76th min while K Agustine (Jersey No 21) scored another two goals in the 59th and 89th min of the match.
Th Joyshing Monsang,Ts Joyning, Kh Angningjoy, Kh Bardhan and Ng Bormantry officiated today's open men's final as centre referee, 1st and 2nd assistant referees, fourth official and commissioner respectively.
The closing ceremony of the tournament, which was held prior to the open men's final kicked off, was attended by Social Worker Sh Manglem and President of Sirti Upa Ruh, Ng Benithan as Chief Guest and Functional President respectively.
During the prize distribution, Sh Manglem gave away a cash prize of Rs 25000 and Rs 20,000 to the champion Japhou-A and runner up Changning-A respectively.
The top scorer of the open men's football tournament was bagged by Sh Alfred (Jersey No.20) of Japhou-A while the best goal keeper and Best player were bagged by Sh Meshor of Japhou-A and Kh Thangkin of Changning-A respectively.
