CM Ibobi meets rape victim at AIIMS

Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh met the Manipuri rape victim and her family this afternoon at AIIMS hospital here.
He talked to the victim and her family members and assured all possible helps from the State Government and also enquired about the condition of the rape victim from the concerned doctors in the hospital.
During the visit, Ibobi was accompanied by Health Minister Phunzathang Tonsing , Agriculture Minister Md Nasir and Member of Manipur Legislative assembly O.Landhoni Devi.
Later, Ibobi met the media at Manipur Bhavan here and said that the condition of the rape victim was out of danger.
He reported that the victim was young and looked very innocent.
Ibobi informed the media that Governor of Manipur V.K Duggal, who was stationed in Delhi, talked to Police Commissioner of Delhi Bhim Sain Bassi yesterday in connection with the case and the culprit had been arrested.
He has also met the lady IPS officer who is the Investigating Officer of the case at Manipur Bhavan, and she told him that the accused person had confessed to the crime and she would submit the charge sheet within 20 days.
Ibobi said, according to the law, the accused person could not be escaped.
When he met Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde yesterday, the latter informed him that the Home Ministry would take stringent actions against the culprit.
Referring to the demand for enactment of racism law, the Manipur Chief Minister opined that a strong law was needed in the country.
Talking about the UNC and NSCN, he said "Since time immemorial, we are living together.
They are brothers and sisters" .
Referring to the insurgency problems in Manipur, Ibobi stated that the people did not like their activities like illegal tax collection, disturbance on development activities taken place in the State.
The people in Manipur wanted development and peace.
He admitted that insurgency in Manipur was not cent percent control.
But the law and order has improved a lot.
Earlier big companies from outside were reluctant to work in Manipur due to law and order problem, connectivity, etc, but now the situation had changed, he added.
Talking about the Jiri-Tupul-Imphal railway project, Ibobi stated that it would be completed by 2016.It would feature three highest rail bridges and nine kilometers long tunnel.
