NSCN office ransacked

The public outrage against the killing of A Shepou had a spill-over effect on non-local community here even as emotionally charged mob ransacked the office of the NSCN-IM's Shepoumaramth Region at Senapati.
In a disturbing development, non-locals from mutias to small shop keepers faced the angst of some unidentified youth who resorted to slapping and kicking them.
Sources claimed that fear and insecurity increased among the non-locals who are mostly businessmen and small traders in the Senapati district headquarters.
However, identities of those miscreants could not be ascertained.
Taking strong exception, the Naga People's Organisation and Karong Senapati Town Committee have appealed to the general public for maintaining calm and harmony.
Meanwhile, a public sit-in protest against the killing of Shepou by NSCN-IM men was carried out at the township on Saturday wherein about 5000 women, men, youths and businessmen and eminent leaders registered their participation.
Sentimental mob has also, in line with their demand to vacate the NSCN-IM Shepoumaramth Regional office, ransacked the Regional office.
Office furniture, shelf, sofa set, chairs, tables, kitchen utensils, mattress and blankets were confiscated by the public which was later destroyed and burn in public view at the traffic point, Senapati DHQs.
At the same time, the body of A Shepou was laid to rest at on Saturday at the NPO Complex.
