Imphal, February 10 2014:
Serving an ultimatum, the convenor of the agitating Manipur University Students Union (MUSU) Revival Demand Committee (RDC) Th.Suresh today said that if the University authority does not come up with a definite response to its demand by February 25, then the committee would be compelled to intensify its ongoing agitation more strenuously.
Talking to media after the committee staged protest inside the MU campus today shouting slogans using loudspeakers and re-highlighting their demands, Suresh said that a request was made to Vice Chancellor, Prof..HNandakumar regarding the revival of the students union on December 9 last year but no response has been given by the VC or MU authority so far.
As a result, the demand committee started its agitation since December 21, 2013.Many forms of agitation like hoisting black flags, sit-in-protests, etc, have been launched to press demand but in vain.
Even though students' unions exist in all other central universities of the country, the Manipur University denied it and thus forbidden the students of the varsity from taking part in students' movement taking place in the country, he lamented.
