Rio to visit State for 2nd time on Saturday

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio is all set to visit Manipur for the second time as chief minister on Saturday.
However, this time the Nagaland chief minister's visit to Manipur will be unlike the one in 2011 where a volatile social unrest was witnessed with the Ibobi Singh led government barring the Nagaland chief minister from entering the state.
On coming Saturday, Neiphiu Rio will be coming to Tamenglong district headquarters to grace the Nagas' seed sowing festival Lui-Ngai-Ni.
Along with Neiphiu Rio, a good number of Nagaland ministers will also be participating in the cultural festivity gala.
Meanwhile, the one day district level political conference of the Naga People's Front (NPF) which was slated for February 12 at Senapati district headquarter has been postponed in view of the Lui-Ngai-Ni, since the party leader Neiphui Rio and his cabinet colleagues will grace the festival as chief Guest, guest of honour and chief host, according to NPF, Manipur State general secretary Athuan Abonmai.
He then said the date for the conference will be intimated later.
Meanwhile, President Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State Soso Lorho has donated a sum of Rs.10,000 on behalf of the party to the victims of Litan fire inferno.
A team of NPF leaders led by Mr.Paul Muinao President NPF Ukhrul Division and Honreikhui Kashung General Secretary Manipur State along with youth and executive members had visited the site.
The team members had assured the villagers to extend further assistance.
The NPF Manipur State demands, State Govt.of Manipur to extend Maximum relief to those unfortunate victims of the fire inferno and immediate installation of fire Station in all the Sub-Divisional H/Q of the hills District to avoid such incident in the future.
The NPF Manipur State also expressed its sorrow at the demise of a young girl in the inferno and extends its deepest condolence to the family.
Meanwhile, the Ukhrul district's Chingai assembly constituency would be organising a 'home-coming' programme in honour of those people who had resigned from their respective political parties to join NPF.
The event will be hosted by Paul Muinao, the president of Ukhrul district divisional president at his official residence.
