KISH, SDSA endorse ATSUM's blockade call

The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and apex student body of Senapati, the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) today announced their endorsement of ATSUM's proposed indefinite economic blockade which is schedule to begin from February 16 .
N Sehjalien Gangte, Secretary Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills said that after analysing the position statements of All Tribal Student's Union Manipur (ATSUM) led by its president Emboi Serto the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills has resolved to fully support and endorse the proposed indefinite economic blockade of ATSUM for the cause of the tribal people.
The Inpi also urged transporters plying along the NH-2 particularly those transporting daily commodities to abstain from their service and urged the public to support the stance.
While drawing the attention of the State Govt to bring amicable solution for the welfare of the tribal people, KISH also said the Govt will be held responsible in case of any unwanted incidents arising out of the agitation.
Meanwhile, lashing out at the alleged Govt's apathy to the genuine demand and interest of the tribal community as stated by ATSUM, the SDSA noted that these demands are long pending and need immediate attention.
Endorsing the position of the ATSUM, the SDSA an influential student body in Senapati District stated that it will fully support and cooperate with the proposed indefinite economic blockade to be launched by ATSUM starting from February 16 onwards.
It also condemned the alleged indifferent attitude of the State Government in addressing the demands of the tribal people while saying it will only draw negative consequent between the people and Government.
The ATSUM is urging the Government to place a Bill for reservation of Vacancies in post and services in the 2013-14 sessions.
Other demands raised by ATSUM included Separate Directorate of Education, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Autonomous District Council, Contract Lecturers and Adhoc Teachers, Contract Teachers and Rationalisation, Police Boundaries and Department of Tribal affairs and Hills.
SDSA asserted that they would support the tribal apex body until the Government gives a positive response and look into the issues of the tribal communities.
