Imphal, February 10 2014:
Claiming responsibility for the abduction of Mathotmi Chahong, the Village Secretary of Island Tangkhul village in the night of Feb 7, the KNF (N) said the abduction is directly related to the July 2013 incident and nothing else as he himself took the responsibility by appending his signature on the Letter Head of the negotiated amount of Rs 20 Lakh to be paid by the contractor of which 15 Lakh was paid at the time and the remaining 5 Lakh would be paid later within a two-month's time.
A statement issued by the information and publicity secretary of KNF (N), Gogou Vaiphei said the abduction does not relate to ransom but to fulfil the pending negotiation of July 2013 and not for being a Tangkhul while urging all concerned not to communialise the issue.
"We assured to all that he is in good health in our custody till today, though he needs regular pills; served and treated accordingly.
His early release is purely in the hands of the concerned if serious fighting with the security forces; that are now undergoing combing operation in the area does not take place," it said.
It alleged that Mathotmi pretended to be innocent in the case and run away from the issue, never turns up despite several reminders.
Therefore, there is no any other option for permanent solution of the issue rather than his abduction.
It is a great surprise and unfortunate that a matured and reliable CSO and student bodies like UNC, TNVSA without any investigation or enquiry released a press note spreading some sort of hatred word that could harm the peaceful atmosphere of the two communities.
This very issue should however be addressed to the exact point and should not be taken otherwise, it said.
Asserting that kidnapping/abduction for ransom the outfit is against the party's principle as stated by its Supremo Dr Napoleon Kremlin, President in a press conference held on Feb 2, the outfit dismissed the charge of ransom.
It further urged MLA Yamthong Haokip not to hide behind the screen and stop his instigation policy for his political gain that will not work positively as his wishes.
