Imphal, November 06 2022:
Tekham Polo Club and Manipur Police Sports Club-B booked the two remaining quarterfinal spots of the 36th State Polo Tournament 2022 with relative ease on Sunday.
Tekham Polo Club started the day with a 6-2 hammering of CRPF Polo Team as H Muhindro scored a treble for the winning side.
The Tekcham riders galloped to a commanding 3-0 lead in the first chukker.
S Sadananda grabbed a pair of goals after K Jogendra opened the scoring for the team.
Although Tekcham started with a bang, they were unable to follow it up in the next chukker that saw goals elude both sides.
After their unsuccessful efforts in the second period, the Tekcham side got the momentum back in the third chukker where H Muhindro struck twice to stretch their advantage to 5-0 .
In the fourth chukker, Muhindro got his third goal while CRPF managed to score an inconsequential double through M Ropen Singh and O Samarjit Singh as Tekham Polo Club enjoyed a smooth passage to the last eight.
Manipur Police Sports Club-B, on the other hand, barely broke a sweat in a 7-1 victory against Lamphel Polo Club en route to the quarterfinals.
The police squad took a 1-0 lead in the first chukker through H Abung Khuman and they made further inroads in the second chukker with a goal each from Kh Ningpoknganba and O Suresh Singh while S Abung converted for the Lamphel side.
In the third chukker, MPSC-B cemented their dominance racking up three goals courtesy of H Abung Khuman (his second), T Pradeepkumar and O Suresh (his second) before M Devenath Singh added a goal in the fourth chukker to close out the game.
