Court remands accused

The Duty Magistrate Imphal East has remanded the cadre of Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) till November 15 who allegedly had a hand in ambushing security personnel at Sehken village which killed family members of the Commanding Officer of 46 Assam Rifles and four other personnel on November 13 last year.
Accused Machukring Zamshim Shimray @ Ningkhan (20), s/o (L) Yangmi Zamshim Shimray of New-Cannan Village, Ukhrul was arrested by a combined team of Imphal East commando, NIA Imphal Branch and 4 Assam Rifles from Yaingangpok Junction yesterday at around 10 am.
The IO of the case through APP submitted that NIA re-registered as per an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on November 26 last year.
The Court after hearing the submission of the IO and on perusal of the case record remanded the accused to police custody till November 15 to pursue the investigation.
It is alleged that the accused is involved in laying several other ambushes targeting Central security forces mainly the Assam Rifles too such as the Khongtal Chandel ambush on July 29, 2020 too.
It may be mentioned that two accused Khamliankhup (58), s/o (L) Lamchinthang and his son Thangkhualian (28) of Jangnuam Village, Singngat Sub Division were also arrested in May 2022.The Special Court NIA granted bail to accused Thangkhualian on September 8 last.
