Road Side Vendors' Welfare Association president Kshetri Tama appreciated the efforts of the government to provide vending space to street vendors in the market since October 16.On Saturday, a team led by the assistant commissioner of IMC conducted a survey of the street vendors in the market including those who are plying their wares outside the market.
The survey collected the vendors' particulars, the time of their arrival to the market, mobile numbers, etc.
It would be much better if identify cards were issued for the surveyed vendors, she suggested.
Tama continued that in 2016, the government formulated several draft rules for street vendors.
However, the time fixed by the Commissioner regarding the seating duration of the vendors is unacceptable, she said and urged for continuing the earlier time slot of allowing business activities from 4am to 9am .
