Legal awareness cum mega beneficiary camps held

As part of the nationwide 'Empowerment of citizens through legal awareness and outreach', District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Imphal West in coordination with district administration of Imphal West organised a legal awareness cum mega beneficiary camp at Imphal West DC complex, Lamphelpat, here, on Sunday.
Regarding the legal awareness cum beneficiary camp, district and sessions judge Imphal West and DLSA chairman A Guneswar said that every citizen of India is entitled to get legal rights guaranteed by the Constitution and Sunday's programme was organised under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority to create awareness among the people about their legal rights as part of the pan-India outreach programme.
As part of the programme, different stalls of health, labour and social welfare departments were opened so that people could get acquainted about the welfare schemes of the departments.
He also said that setting up of such stalls would enable people to know more about government schemes and avail the entitled benefits.
DLSA, Imphal West secretary Jangolen Haokip, Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta, AC to DC, Imphal West Mandan Gopal Laishram also attended the legal awareness camp.
Aadhaar enrolment, labour card generation, CMHT medical check-up and e-court services were provided at the camp while forest department provided consultation to participants.
Social welfare department also created awareness on child abuse and crimes against women.
A one-day mega legal awareness camp on 'Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach - A pan India Campaign' was also jointly organised by DLSA, Tamenglong and Noney district administration Longmai Part-III multipurpose hall in Noney district on Sunday.
The programme held under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) and National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was attended by Noney deputy commissioner Joseph Pauline Kamson as chief guest and Villages Council Longmai Area and chairman Adai Dangmei as guest of honour, while District & Sessions Judge cum DLSA, Tamenglong chairman N Rajnikanta Singh and 10 Assam Rifles, Noney assistant commandant K Rojen Singh were present as special guests.
As part of the event, Noney additional SP (LO) Namsadai Peter Pamei spoke on 'Procedures for filing complaint or lodging FIR in police station', advocate Ch Momon Singh on 'Rights of arrested persons and suspects and victim compensation scheme' and Manipur University Department of Law assistant professor Dr Th Tapasini on 'Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties'.
Altogether, eight stalls were opened at the event for availing legal aid.
The programme was also attended by village authority leaders, church leaders, police and security personnel, district level officers and CSO leaders of Noney district.
Meanwhile, DLSA, Chandel under the aegis of MASLSA organised a Mega Legal Awareness Camp at Teraphai village in Tengnoupal district as part of NALSA's Empowerment of Citizen through Legal Awareness and Outreach Campaign on Sunday, a release by DLSA said.
It mentioned that the programme was co-chaired by DLSA secretary Kimneingah Kipgen and Centre for Women and Girl secretary Hechin Haokip, while DLSA official Kh Jacky Lucy was the resource person.
As part of the event, 231 beneficiaries from various villages of the district were provided services related to CMHT & PMJAY cards, drafting of affidavits, e-shram card, etc., it added.
