Jiribam celebrates 100 pc vaccination feat

The district administration of Jiribam celebrated 100 percent first dose COVID-19 vaccination in the district with a grand function held at DC Jiribam office located at Chingdong Leikai, here, on Sunday.
Jiribam DC W Malemnganba Chenglei, additional SP Ak Sadananda and CMO Dr E Okendro attended the celebration function as presidium members.
In his speech, DC Malemnganba recounted that it was a huge burden for Jiribam district administration when the district received 24,000 state natives who returned from other states during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
Being newly formed and bifurcated from Imphal East district during the time, Jiribam district administration faced acute staff shortage.
However, the district administration managed to successfully receive all the returnees and sent them to their respective homes safe and sound due to collective efforts of officials and staff, he said, adding that the state government recognised the task performed successfully by the district administration and even awarded best public administration prize.
According to Malemnganba, Jiribam district administration has unique character of working together on any issue and it was due to collective efforts that the district achieved 100 percent COVID-19 1st dose vaccination in the state.
Jakuradhor was also the first GP of the state to achieve 100 percent first dose COVID-19 vaccination, he said, adding that Jiribam district administration also played key role in supply of oxygen to other districts of the state during the 2nd wave of the pandemic.
Officials of different departments, elected people's representatives, CSO leaders and media persons were also honoured at the event.
Later, a short video about achievements of Jiribam district administration within a short period was also screened at the event.
