Meet reaffirms stand on boundary, committee expanded

A joint meeting of CSO leaders, social activists and politicians held at the auditorium of Kakching Municipal Council on Sunday reaffirmed the resolutions to protect the boundary of Kakching district taken in a public meeting held at the auditorium of Library and Information Centre Kakching on October 16 this year.
Sunday's meeting also expanded the existing Coordination Committee for the Protection of Kakching District Boundary by inducting 33 co-opted members to increase its strength to 65 and renamed it Kakching District Protection and Development Committee (KDPDC) .
The meeting elected Y Bheigyachandra as the president of the committee, former chairman of Sugnu MC M Sarat and former chairman of Kakching MC N Sanjitkumar as vice-presidents, M Premjit as secretary publicity and Ksh Chhatradhari as secretary administration along with two treasurers and six joint secretaries.
It also elect ed all MLAs & ZP members in Kakching district, former minister N Nimai, former minister Th Tomba, social worker Y Satya, and retired headmaster A Manikumar as advisory committee members.
The meeting thanked chief minister N Biren for his instruction to all the DCs to resolve inter-district boundary disputes and, and the district administration for the steps taken up ensure clear cut administrative jurisdiction.
Expressing hope, that the government will take up necessary measures to clear any issues swiftly, the meeting resolved to submit memorandum to the authority concerned requesting to demarcate the boundary of the district with proper geo-tagging to rule out future disputes.
The meeting also demanded the government to make a public statement for clar ity on whether the revenue department or the Hill Areas Committee is the authority to recognise the mushrooming new tribal villages in different parts of the state.
It also agreed to submit a copy of the resolutions to the district administration for cooperation and coordination in any matter related with the issues.
