1st MNCA Super Plate Tournament : MPSC crush SDC by 144 runs, dislodge RCA to qualify for semis

MPSC cruised to a 144 run victory against SDC, Laipham Khunou for the fifth win in 7 matches of the 1st MNCA Super Plate Tournament Group B competition to climb to second in the standings and qualify for the semi-finals.
Put in to bat first at Langthabal Public Ground, MPSC gathered a total of 203 runs for 8 in 40 over thanks to Gelson Singh's 74-ball 52, Sarangthem Shangker Singh (31) and Soubam Kingson Singh (42 not out off 21 balls; 3 fours and 3 sixes) and bowled out SDC to 59 within 30.5 overs as Maibam Bijoykumar enjoyed a four wicket haul (4/11 in 8 overs which contained three maiden overs).
Thangboy Doungel was wrecker-in-chief for the Laipham Khunou team as he returned with the best bowling figures of 5/57 in 8 overs but his effort went in vain as only Tarun Khagokpam with paltry 12 runs top the scoring for SDC in the chase.
Fast bowler Maibam Bijoykumar stamped his authority by trapping four of his victims lbw including Tarun Khagokpam to break the back of the SDC line up.
Oinam Rojit (2/10) and Potsangbam Bonem (2/5) also played a crucial part with their disciplined bowling to keep things tight and helped MPSC dislodged RCA, Lilong from second spot in the Group B standings.
Maibam Bijoykumar of MPSC was eventually named man of the match.
Meanwhile in a Group A league match staged at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground, PSC, Khuyathong sealed a 44 run victory courtesy all round performance from Lamabam Martin Singh.
Opting to bat first, PSC suffered early blow after being reduced to 2/1 with the dismissal of Kharaijam Sagaijit Singh on 1 but Thokchom Homenjit and Diamond gave a flourishing start to inspire their team a tally of 178 runs for 8.Homenjit hit 9 fours before he departed on 55 and Diamond was 5 runs away from half century when he succumbed to Nicholas P for the third wicket when the scorecard read 121 in 30.3 overs.
Lamabam Martin (16) and Ningthoujam Ranjan (21 not out) also played sensibly to help PSC post a target of 179 runs.
Chittaranjan Ngangom (3/52) and Rabikanta Sharma Shanglakpam (3/32) of THAU picked up three wickets each as Nicholas P managed two wickets.
In the chase, Rabikanta Sanglakpam hit a 48-ball 52 after Huidrom Sanjit Singh added 22 but PSC bowlers proved too strong for them and eventually bundled out for just 134 runs within 30.1 overs.
Lamabam Martin snared four wickets including three on ducks for 26 runs in his spell of 8 overs in this innings Laimayum Prasantajit (2/19), Mutum Vickj (2/29) and Ningthoujam Ranjan (2/ 26) pick up two wickets to apply break in the chase.
L Martin was eventually named man of the match.
KCC will play THAU in the last Group A league match of the tournament on April 8 .
