AR, NCB destroy poppy cultivation

Maram Battalion Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) destroyed illicit poppy cultivation of around 40 acres, worth approximately Rs 4.80 crore, along the north of New Magaimai hill range of Maram area in Senapati district.
According to Assam Rifles, based on input about poppy cultivation in the area, a special drive was carried out by a joint team of NCB Imphal and Assam Rifles during which poppy cultivation spread across an area of 40 acres was destroyed.
The destroyed poppy cultivation would have yielded around 200kg opium worth approximately around Rs 4.80 crore.
Such drive will help in eradication of drugs from Manipur and will help in development of the state.
It will also make a positive impact on society where youth will be drug free.
