Imphal, April 06 2022:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has said that it will hold talk with All Manipur School Transporters' Association and discuss inconveniences faced by drivers who are transporting students to school after the government changed timing of classes from 8 am.
AMSU considers the state cabinet decision on the new timing for government offices and schools as a measure to ease traffic congestion but starting school hours early has caused a lot of inconvenience particularly to teachers, parents and student transporters.
Despite facing inconveniences, the step taken by the government is being appreciated from many sections of the society, AMSU noted in a statement.
The statement further said it will discuss the problems faced by the school transporters soon.
Taking serious note of association's warning that drivers carrying students to schools and back home might be forced to cease service if their problems are not addressed, the AMSU appealed to government and authority concerned to find a long-term solution.
AMSU also appealed to school transporters particularly van drivers not to open doors while driving and maintain seat capacity strictly to prevent accident and other unwanted incidents.
