Minister Th Biswajit to foster Meiningsinliu Pamei

As follow Up to his assurance of supporting education of a little girl from Dailong in Tamenglong district, who went viral on social media for attending class while babysitting her younger sibling, till graduation; Agriculture minister Th Biswajit accompanied by his wife Junreiwon warmly welcomed Meiningsinliu Pamei (10) at his official residence at Sanjenthong on Wednesday.
The couple also decided to place the 10-year-old in a good boarding school in the state's capital.
On Wednesday afternoon, Meiningsinliu along with her mother Widijuanliu and younger brother arrived at the minister's quarters, wherein they were warmly received by the minister and his wife.
Meiningsinliu will stay with Biswajit's family for some days, after which she will be admitted to a good boarding school in Imphal.
Biswajit had already announced that he would bear all expenses of the little girl till she completes her graduation.
Meiningsinliu is the eldest of four kids.
Her father Khiyamgei Pamei and mother Widijuanliu Pamei are cultivators and they make a living by selling their agricultural produces.
Their financial condition is not good, as conveyed by acquaintances, who came with the family.
They then expressed elation on having Meiningsinliu fostered by minister Th Biswajit and his family.
While interacting with the family members of the 10-year-old girl, Biswajit Singh assured them that he will take care of Meiningsinliu's education and get her admitted to a boarding school in Imphal.
Mentioned may be made that picture of the first-grader from Dailung Primary School in Tamenglong district had gone viral.
She was seen attending school while babysitting her baby brother in her lap as her parents were out working on a farm.
Soon after the picture of the young girl went viral, minister Biswajit traced Meiningsinliu's family and contacted them over the phone.
He also took to Twitter to praise the 10-year-old's dedication towards education.
After picture of the Class 1 student babysitting her baby brother and attending class took the internet by storm, well- wishers, including Chief Minister N Bifen and Biswajit, pledged all possible help to the little girl.
It is learnt that Meiningsinliu volunteered to babysit her younger brother while her parents were away at the farm, and attended classes at the same time.
Despite being in a tight situation at such a tender age, her grit and passion to get herself an education has amazed people and won hearts across social media.
After schools reopened for physical classes, Dailung Primary School authorities also opened the school gates to ensure that no one missed the opportunity of getting an education.
The school made attendance compulsory and also allowed Meiningsinliu to attend classes despite knowing her predicament.
Soon after the picture with her little brother sleeping on her lap while attending classes went viral on social media, CM Biren extended his help to Meiningsinliu and her family.
Similarly, minister Biswajit personally called the Pamei family and assured to take care of her education till she completes graduation.
Speaking to EastMojo, Daichui Gangmei, president of Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation, Manipur (RNSOM), expressed that Meiningsinliu set the best example to the children and students of the contemporary world that poverty and lack of opportunities cannot stop anyone from chasing their dreams.
"Children and students of present age are busy with tuitions, mobile phones, TV, laptops, etc., and are never interested in the example set by Meiningsinliu.
Her passion for studies is extraordinary and she beats against all odds and hardships, and proves to the entire world that poverty and lack of opportunities cannot stop her pursuing her dreams," said Gangmei, who also visited Meiningsinliu and her family along with his team.
According to Gangmei, there is no school building in the village and students are attending classes in some other place.
"We will submit a proposal to the chief minister for the construction of a school building and a children's park in the village," said Gangmei.
Meanwhile, the student body has donated Rs 10,000 to the family as a token of appreciation and love.
During their visit, RNSOM also declared to freely adopt and support her throughout her career for her extraordinary passion and commitment towards studies, and for setting an example to the present society.
The team also assured to provide every support to Meiningsinliu's three other siblings.
RNSOM assured to support any needy student in need when it comes to education, added Gangmei.
Earlier, RNSOM also met Meiningsinliu's parents and announced to take responsibility for her education.
