'Eikhoigi Imphal Film Festival' ends

The five-day first edition of "Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival" (EIIFF) concluded on Wednesday.
The festival was organised by Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) in collaboration with Manipur State Film and Television Society (MSFTI) as a part of the yearlong Golden Jubilee Celebration of Manipuri Cinema.
On the last day of EIIFF, Filipino film 'God Bliss Our Home' directed by Nawruz Paguidopon, Norwegian film 'Gunda' directed by Viktor Kos-sakovski, Indian film 'Chaalchitra' directed by Mrinal Sen and world premiere of 'No Refusal' directed by Kaushik Hahzee were screened.
It may be mentioned that the EIFF saw screening of 19 award winning films from various countries and in different languages.
On the first day of the festival, Romi Meitei's 'Eikhoigi Yum' was premiered.
Meanwhile, director of "No Refusal", Kaushik Hafizee expressed joy over the screening of his debut him in EIIFF.
He also appreciated the audience for their enthusiastic outlook and engaging conversations, a release by MSFDS secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum said.
It also quoted noted documentary filmmaker Amar Maibam as saying that the festival will go a long way in making Manipuri cinema achieve global outreach.
Further exuding conhdence that the festival will help in shifting focus of common people from the notion that films are just meant for entertainment, he maintained that the festival will have a cumulative impact in terms of enhancing creativity and uniqueness of Manipuri cinema.
On the other hand, cinephile Leingakpa Toijam appealed to the people to ensure maximum participation in the future editions of the festival.
He exhorted the people to enjoy shared experience' of watching a movie together on the silver screen instead of watching films alone at home on TV.
The release further conveyed that on the concluding day, Laihui's Mangka and team performed live songs much to the delight of the audience.
