Governor leads in extending Yaoshang greetings

Governor Anusuiya Uikey has led in conveying her greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Yaoshang which will be celebrated from March 7 to 11 .
In a statement, the Governor said that Yaoshang is a celebration symbolizing the rejuvenation of the spirit of life where the young and old alike take part in the festival of colours.
"The festival of Yaoshang has now become a sports movement as various sporting activities take place in every locality during the entire period of the festival", she maintained.
With this, she urged the people to make Manipur a better and peaceful State where mutual respect and love prevail among all communities.
In his Yaoshang greetings, Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed hope that the colours of this festival will bring all shades of happiness in the lives of everyone in the State.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker, Th Satyabrata Singh stated that the Yaoshang festival signifies merriment and joy in life and called upon the people to celebrate the festival with peace and tranquility.
Extending his heartiest greeting to the people with the arrival of the spring festival, Awangbow Newmai, Minister of Water Resources Department said that it is celebrated by people irrespective of caste, age and gender.
Further, he hoped for this 5-day festival to be a platform to harness peace and harmony among the diverse ethnic communities of the State.
Textiles, Commerce and Industry & Co-operation Minister Nemcha Kipgen prayed for the joyous spirit of the festival to rejuvenate and strengthen age-old bonds of love, harmony and understanding amongst all.
Stating that Yaoshang marks the onset of spring season, Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, Minister, Medical, Health & Family Welfare wished for the festival to usher in peace, prosperity, happiness, brotherhood and unity among the communities in the State.
Keisham Meghachandra, president, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has also extended his Yaoshang greetings to the people of Manipur, especially the Hindu community.
In a statement, the MPCC president prayed for the festival to bring new hope and opportunities to the people and usher in an era of peace, development and harmony in the State.
