Governor flags in NIT at Mantripukhri

Governor Anusuiya Ui-key flagged in the 12-day National Integration Tour (NIT) at Mantripukhri garrison on Monday.
The tour comprising two teachers and 20 students including 10 girls from seven schools of Tengnoupal district was flagged off on February 22 from Machi village in Tengnoupal district to Kolkata by IGAR (South) as part of Op Sadbhavna.
The tour was organised to expose the children of north east ern region to the rich culture and heritage of India and to develop their bonds of friendship with people of other states thereby strengthening national integration.
The tour also facilitated students to unveil various career options through interaction with renowned personalities and visiting institutions of National importance.
As part of the tour, the stu dents visited various places that included National Security Guard Hub at Kolkata, Indian Naval Ship Netaji Subhash, Air Force Station Barrackpore, Sainik School Imphal and many tourist attractions in Kolkata.
During the course of the tour, the students also interacted with Governor of West Bengal and Eastern Army Commander.
At the flagging in ceremony, the Governor lauded the efforts of Assam Rifles for organising the tour in such a meticulous manner and also mentioned that such integration tours enable the participants to develop sense of oneness and broaden their horizon through exposure to heritage, culture, hallowed institutions and varied lifestyles of people in other parts of India.
Speaking briefly on the occasion, children and faculty members whole heartedly extended their appreciation and gratitude for the efforts of security forces for organising the tour.
