Police announce Yaoshang curbs

In order to prevent unwanted incidents from happening during the Yaoshang festival, a meeting was organised ahead of the festival with the Manipur Police department and the editors of state's dailies, on Monday.
The meeting discussed the activities which should be done or avoided during the course of the festival.
Additional DGP L Kailun also appealed to the people to cooperate in maintaining peace and harmony during the festivals.
In order to deal with any untoward situation, all the police station officers have also been instructed to maintain strict vigil on anti-social elements and carry out intensive patrolling, organise meeting with the locals and clubs to work out any programmes including sports activities.
While stating that the police department encourages organising sport activities by locals, L Kailun, however, pointed out that such activities should not disturb public tranquillity and traffic.
Advising the public to avoid from use of obscene words or slogans, obscene songs, use of gestures or mimetic representations and preparation, exhibition or dissemination of pictures, symbols, placards or any other objects or things which may offend dignity, decency or morality, the officer also stated that the practice of spraying or throwing coloured water, dyes or powder on pedestrians and preparation and/or throwing of balloons filled with coloured or plain water or any liquid should be avoided.
L Kailun also wished the people of Manipur a happy, peaceful and joyous Holi, the festival of colours.
