MGNREGS fund of Rs 406.49 crore released to districts

The Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (RD & PR) Department released a total amount of Rs 406.49 crore under MGNREGS including wage component to 16 districts of the state for further disbursement to stakeholders including job card holders.
Of the total released amount, Rs 231.15 crore is liability including wage component for the year 2021-22 and 2022 23 (upto February 27, 2023) and Rs 175.34 crore is for new works taken up in the year 2022-23 .
In a letter issued to district programme co-ordinators, additional chief secretary and MSRDA vice chairman MR Khan said that the total liability amount for the financial year 2021-22 and 2022-23 (up to February 27, 2023) for 16 districts is Rs 231.15 crore and the same has been released to relevant districts.
The released fund included liability for Bishnupur district amounting Rs 1611.77 lakh, Rs 3678.96 lakh for Chandel district, Rs 3361.77 lakh for Imphal East district, Rs 1837.62 lakh for Imphal West, Rs 908.04 lakh for Jiribam, Rs 838.17 lakh for Kakching, Rs 677.55 lakh for Kamjong, Rs 1149.91 lakh for Kangpokpi, Rs 760.52 lakh for Noney, Rs 420.21 lakh for Pherzawl, Rs 2203.85 lakh for Senapati, Rs 471.47 lakh for Tamenglong, Rs 2242.25 lakh for Tengnoupal, Rs 1155.75 lakh for Thoubal and Rs 1421.71 lakh for Ukhrul district thus totalling Rs 23,115.01 lakh.
About the fund released for new works for the financial year 2022-23, the letter said that Rs 1523.44 lakh out of the total amount (Rs 175.34 crore) is for Bishnupur district, Rs 600.99 lakh for Chandel district, Rs 1631.91 lakh for Churachandpur, Rs 3358.35 lakh for Imphal East, Rs 1997.96 lakh for Imphal West, Rs 292.12 lakh for Jiribam, Rs 1089.19 lakh for Kakching, Rs 452.89 lakh for Kamjong, Rs 1133.81 lakh for Kangpokpi, Rs 376.04 lakh for Noney, Rs 235.68 lakh for Pherzawl, Rs 1214.39 lakh for Senapati, Rs 649,12 lakh for Tamenglong, Rs 461.58 lakh for Tengnoupal, Rs 1401.23 lakh for Thoubal and Rs 1115.91 lakh for Ukhrul district thus totalling Rs 17534.61 lakh.
According to the letter, at least 25 percent of the released fund must be earmarked for completion of Amrit Sarovar projects after adjusting pending liabilities.
The fund must be utilised for works approved under MGNREGA guidelines and relevant programme officers should release fund to relevant implementing agencies without violating the guidelines.
The letter further said that districts should maintain certain parameters for releasing the fund and the foremost parameter is that works for the year 2021-22 and earlier must be completed as per MIS data while development of 75ponds under Mission Amrit Sarovar guidelines in districts must also be completed.
Another parameter is completion of Aadhaar seeding of job card holders and to ensure Aadhaar based payment as per MORD directive.
