Congress holds protest rally against 'crony capitalism''

Under the aegis of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), District Congress Committee (DCC), Kakching organised a protest rally against 'crony capitalism' of the Modi government, here, on Monday.
MPCC president MLA K Meghachandra, secretary Ksh Kennedy, DCC Kakching president A Rahaman Cheshaba, BCC Kakching president N Ashok, BCC Hiyanglam president E Iboyaima, Kakching Municipal Council former chairperson M Inakhunbi attended the protest rally among others.
The participants shouted slogans against misusing LIC & SBI funds, and amending rules in favour of Adani among others.
Interacting with media, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that, the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been juicing out PSUs to invest their funds to a handful of business lead ers.
This is a clear example of crony capitalism and it is happening for the first time in the history of the coun try, he said and added that Congress will fight against such crony capitalism policy of BJP.
He charged the Modi government of investing funds of LIC and SBI, which are collected from the common people to Adani's enterprises.
This has been exposed by Hindenburg Research.
Moreover, SBI, which is the largest bank of the coun try with 45 crore account holders, was also made to invest Rs 80,000 crore to Adani.
Congress proposed to discuss on the expose by Hindenberg Research in the parliament but BJP refused the proposal.
He said that LIC invested Rs 33,600 crore collected from around 29 crore policy holders to Adani's enterprises, resulting in huge loss of public money.
This also led to the downfall of LIC, he maintained.
The president said that Congress party is not against any particular corporate house but it stands against corporates and powerful individuals or groups that stand against the interest and welfare of the common people.
The party is demanding a thorough investigation into the report of Hindenberg Research by a joint parliamentary committee com prising members of both ruling and opposition along with Chief Justice of India.
However, the Modi government is Trying to divert public attention from this issue, he alleged.
Meghachandra also alleged Modi government of selling off PSUs including airports to Adani and Ambani, and strongly objected to the privatisation of PSUs.
He slammed the BJP government for hiking LPG price by Rs 50 over and above the existing Rs 1200 per refill, GST hike, price rise of commodities including petroleum products, and said that this is not the time for the public to remain silent.
He also decried the intimidation of general public by filing FIRs by BJP government for expressing their opinions.
