The four police personnel-then Sub Inspector Thokchom Krishnatombi, then Constables Khundong-bam Inaobi, Md Akhtar Hussain and Thangkhongam Lungdim were summoned by the Court earlier.
The CBI filed a prosecution sanction against the four police personnel on January 10, 2022 .
Special PP CBI submitted that the Special Secretary (DP), Government of Manipur, is also awaiting the prosecution sanction of then Constables Nongmaithem Rameshore, Baremron Khamjei, Leitanthem Sharat and Khundrakpam Ranjeet.
Accordingly, the Court took cognizance against the four police personnel of the offence under Section 302 IPC with 34 IPC and also summoned them on February 14 .
As no prosecution sanction has been filed against the other four Constables -Nongmaithem Rameshore, Baremron Khamjei, Leitanthem Sharat and Khundarkpam Ranjeet, the case against them has been kept in abeyance.
It may be mentioned that Inspector Sh Parvender Kumar of CBI New Delhi, now attached to the CBI/ SIT Manipur, submitted the charge sheet of the case on June 24, 2020 as per the directive of the Supreme Court.
As per the chargesheet, Th Krishnatombi, in a complaint lodged to Singjamei Police, said that a team of commandos signalled one Maruti 1000 CC car on seeing the muzzle of a weapon.
The car, however, sped towards the Airport side, causing the commandos to chase them.
Claiming that the occupants of the car fired upon the commandos, it alleged that they also returned fire and killed three of the occupants while another other died on the way to JNIMS Hospital.
The complaint further alleged that two AK-47 Rifles with magazines loaded with 6 rounds each and one empty magazine were found on the rear seat of the car.
Another contradictory FIR was registered at Singjamei police station by Pemla Shaiza, wife of Major S Shaiza.
She said that her husband along with four other persons including Thenucho, ex-Speaker of Nagaland Assembly, Tusovihu and Kekheto Sema of Nagaland police and the driver Rukno Saila were cold bloodedly murdered by the accused along the Imphal Airport road on August 29, 1998 .
