12 candidates file nominations in Kangpokpi

Altogether 12 candidates from various political parties and independent candidates including three women from three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi district filed their nomination papers for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election on Monday, One candidate from Kangpokpi AC, two each from Saitu AC and Saikul had already filed their nominations earlier.
Among those who filed nominations on Monday include sitting Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
The BJP woman candidate along with her workers and supporters marched towards the District Election Officer/DC Kangpokpi on foot from her Kangpokpi residence to submit her nomination papers to RO Kangpokpi.
After filing her nomination, Nemcha Kipgen said that she is committed to serve people and bring Kangpokpi AC to the path of inclusive development irrespective of caste, creed, religion, and community.
She also conveyed her sincere gratitude to central and state leaders of BJP for reposing their faith on her and assured that she will not disappoint party leaders by winning the election with a huge margin.
Later, Nemcha held a meeting with youth of Kangpokpi town right after filing her nomination at her Kangpokpi residence and discussed poll preparedness.
Two other women candidates who filed their nominations from Saikul AC and they are Kimneo Haokip of Kuki Peoples' Alliance (KPA) and Lhingkim Haokip of Indian National Congress (INC).
Interestingly, the two women candidates were seen hugging each other inside the RO office before filing their nominations.
Apart from the BJP candidate Nemcha and Janata Dal (United) candidate Soshim Gurung from Kangpokpi AC, a retired IPS officer Ngamkhohen Kipgen, fielded by the Indian National Congress and Independent candidate Thangminlen Kipgen also filed their nomination papers to contest the election from Kangpokpi AC.
With their nominations, four candidates including one woman candidate have filed nominations for the AC as of Monday.
In respect of Saitu AC, veteran politician Haokholet Kipgen filed nomination as independent candidate while Dr Lamtinthang Haokip of INC, Ngamthang Haokip of BJP and L Johnny Gangmei of Janata Dal (United) also filed their nomination papers.
NPP candidate K Lhouvum had already filed nomination paper from the same constituency.
In Saikul AC, apart from two independent candidates namely veteran politician Chungkhokai Doungel and Kenn Raikhan, who had already filed nominations few days back, as many as six individuals including two women have filed nominations on Monday: The six candidates are Janata Dal (United) candidate Ch Ajang Khongsai, KPA's Kimneo Haokip, INC candidate Lhingkim Haokip, NPP candidate Seikholal Haokip, BJP candidate Yamthong Haokip and Republican Party of India (Athawale) candidate Jamchinlen Lunkim.
Altogether, eight candidates including two women have filed nominations for Saikul AC till date.
