Do not drag schools into agitations: AMRPSWA

Imphal, August 23 2026: The All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has appealed to all concerned not to include educational institutions in any form of agitation, bandh, blockade or general strike.

In a press note issued today, the association said for the last several years, the education sector has become a soft target for the Government sector and every civil society organisation.

As per RTE and NCF norms, there should be 200 working days for Class I to V and 220 days for Class VI to XII .

However, in Manipur, students hardly get even 120 days of schooling, it said.

Due to this, students are unable to learn what they are supposed to learn in their respective classes.

Neither the Government nor the public has taken serious note of this, but the consequences are visible today, it added.

Citing the inability to conduct public examinations in a free and fair manner as an example, the association said students resort to unfair means as they have not learnt their lessons properly.

It is unfortunate that the Education Department itself declares frequent unjustified holidays, disrupting the teaching-learning process, at a time when it should be making efforts to improve education, it said.

The association appealed to all not to disturb the future pillars of the Nation and to allow students to learn properly.
