Imphal, February 07 2022:
Khurai AC NPP candidate Laitonjam Jayananda has stated that he has no fear when it comes to sincerely serving the people of Khurai and the state as a whole.
Speaking at a public meeting held at his Khurai Konsam Leikai residence after filing his nomination papers on Monday, Jayananda revealed that he has received requests from insurgents for financial assistance.
Although he does not have the power to "challenge" them, some of whom have the ability to teach him a lesson, being a citizen of a law-abiding country, he has to stand up to the pressure of both law enforcing agencies and insurgents, just like the rest of the populace.
However, an outfit, suspected to be fake one based in Khurai, has been threatening his family's safety and also making statements to tarnish his reputation, which is highly unfortunate, he conveyed.
Jayananda said he joined politics to develop Khurai and the state, in addition to upholding the rights of the people, as an elected representative is supposed to do.
"Politics is not a field for the self-vested interest, but it is meant for bettering the lives of people.
It is unfortunate of the elected representative of Khurai to make irresponsible statements, which are unbecoming of a lawmaker," Jayananda stated.
The meeting was attended by NPP national general secretary Mutchu Mithi, advisory board leaders and important office bearers of NPP Khurai Unit.
