MU holds Surya Namaskar practice

A programme on "Surya Namaskar Practice' in the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Aahatsav was organised at Kamal Indoor stadium of Manipur University by the Department of Yoga and NSS Cell of the University on Monday.
As chief guest of the programme, MU vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh recounted that Surya Namaskar Practice was performed by 75 crore people across the country as a part of the celebration Of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahatsav.
During the programme, which was also attended by deans Prof K Yogendra Singh (Mathematical and Physical Science), Prof Takhellambam Inaobi Singh (Education), Prof Dr R Varatharajan (Life Sciences), Dr L Vishwanath Sharma (Students' Welfare) and registrar Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Department of Yoga head and NSS Cell coordinator Dr Maibam Nodiyachand Singh explained about the importance of Surya Namaskar Practice.
Surya Namaskar is blending of Asanas and Breathing techniques with 12 steps including eight asanas woven left and right, he said, adding that regular Surya Namaskar Practice enhances immune system, tones up the body, minimizes the risk of BP, Constipation, and Diabetes and regulates all body functions.
It can be practised if one doesn't have time for other activities, he said.
All administrative officers namely Prof Homendra Naorem (Director, Human Resource Development Centre), N Thoiba Singh (University Engineer), Dr RK Joteen Singh (Deputy Registrar, Administrative), Dr Ch Pradeepkumar Singh (ADS), Dr S Opendra Singh (Security Officer), faculties of PESS, and other departments of Manipur University also attended the programme during which Yoga asanas were demonstrated by the students of Yoga Department.
