Governor reaches out to all at Kasom Khullen

Governor La Ganesan visited Kasom Khullen sub-divisional headquarters in Kamjong district today and interacted with Government officials, representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs), village chiefs and the people of the region.
During the visit, the Governor also visited Kasom Khullen Higher Secondary School and interacted with the students and teachers.
He inspected ongoing construction works at the school and enquired about their needs.
Speaking at an interaction programme held at Sadbhavna Mandap at the sub-divisional headquarters, the Governor said that he came to the sub-division to know the problems being faced by the people and explore the ways and means to address them.

He said issues related to education, healthcare, connectivity, power etc, should be taken care of and he will look into them.
"There should be proper facilities for treating patients, good infrastructure, all weather roads, adequate number of teachers at schools, and also clean power supply schemes as these are the basic needs of the people" .
La Ganesan said he will ask the departments concerned to look into these matters and also ask the Chief Minister to take necessary steps in the larger interest of the people.
The Governor also spoke about drugs related issues and said, drug abuse, poppy cultivation and drug trafficking are major issues of concern and the State Government is trying to curb it.
He stated that the number of drug users particularly among the youths is increasing manifold during the last few years.
Collective efforts of all stakeholders-the Government and its agencies, the people and civil society organisations is needed to end the issue of drugs, he said appealing to the people to cooperate with the Government.
He stressed that the Government has intensified the War on Drugs, particularly against illicit poppy cultivation in the hill districts.
Expressing concern over the issues of illegal immigrants, drug smuggling, weapons, sneaking in of insurgents from neighbouring countries, La Ganesan said, these activities should be prevented at any cost.
The Government alone cannot prevent it.
Full cooperation from the general public is quite indispensable, he said.
On Covid vaccination, the Governor said, vaccination is a must and first priority to prevent the pandemic.
He appealed to the villagers to get fully vaccinated at the earliest.
On TB (Tuberculosis), he said, the Government of India is committed to eliminate TB from India by 2025, therefore, district authorities concerned should conduct surveys to identify patients to carry out remedial measures.
Governor also spoke on the importance of Swachh Bharat Mission, to make India clean and healthy.
During the programme, the Governor felicitated Solimla Jajo of Kasom Khullen, the silver medalist at the recently concluded 54th Asian Bodybuilding Sports Championship held in the Maldives.
MLA of Phungyar AC, K Leishiyo, who was also present, said Kamjong district is trailing behind the other districts on many fronts.
Even though the district shares an international boundary with Myanmar, there are no business activities or transactions for lack of infrastructure.
Steps should be taken up to develop the district to be at par with the other districts of the State, he added.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, R Rang Peter made a power point presentation regarding various activities of the administration and development projects in the district.
He informed the Governor that there are acute shortages of manpower in many sectors including education and healthcare.
Leaders of several civil society organisations also raised many issues and submitted memoranda to the Governor.
La Ganesan heard their issues and grievances and assured to extend all possible help.
He also enquired about the prevailing condition of Kasom Khullen Primary Health Centre, the only health facility in the area.
The Governor was accorded a warm welcome by MLA K Leishiyo, DC R Rang Peter, SP P Manjit, and other officials on his arrival.
