AR seizes 3 Kgs of brown sugar from 'unnamed man'

About 3 Kgs of brown sugar whose value was estimated to be around Rs six crore was seized by troops of Assam Rifles Sajik Tampak Battalion today.
On the other hand 1306 WY tablets and over 6 Kgs of opium were seized from different places of Churachandpur district.
Acting on specific input regarding movement of contraband items, AR troops established a mobile vehicle check post at Aisi village, Chandel district.
In the course of searching and frisking commuters at the mobile vehicle check post, one individual was found with 275 soap cases containing approximately 3 Kgs of brown sugar, according to a press release issued by the Hqs IG AR (S) .
The arrested individual has been handed over to Chakpikarong police station along with the seized item, it added.

Assam Rifles has however not given details, such as the identity and place of residence of the alleged drug smuggler.
On the other hand, Churachandpur police received specific information at around 8.30 pm yesterday that one Kamkhosei Hanghal was frequently selling/supplying WY tablets in Bijang village areas.
Acting on the input, a team of Churachandpur police station led by its OC and the OC of women police station, Churachandpur rushed to the residence of Kamkhosei Hanghal.
On searching Kamkhosei Hanghal's house in the presence of Executive Magistrate Jangminlien Lupho and independent witnesses, seven plastic packets suspected to contain WY tablets were found concealed inside a plastic basket.
On counting all the seven packets, 1306 numbers of suspected WY tablets were found.
The suspected WY tablets were packed and sealed in a white cloth in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.
Further Rs 4,990 in cash, suspected to be proceeds of drug transaction and one mobile phone were seized at 8.50 pm and Kamkhosei Hanghal (33) s/o (L) Lhukhopao of Mongnelphai, presently staying at Bijang family lane was arrested.
A case was also registered at Churachandpur police station.
At around 1.30 pm today, Churachandpur police received information that some contraband drugs were being transported from Khuangkhai side towards Sangaikot area.
Accordingly, a combined team of Churachandpur police station and Sangaikot police station including the SDM Sangaikot rushed to Jangmun village under Sangaikot sub-division and conducted frisking and checking of all vehicles coming towards Sangaikot area.
On checking one passenger vehicle (Tata DI Pick-up) with an unknown person suspected to be in possession of contraband substances was detained and on thorough checking, suspected opium concealed in a black bag covered in a black plastic was detected from his possession.
On preliminary questioning, the unknown person identified himself as Holngam Haokip (50) s/o Holkholun Haokip of Govajang village, Sangaikot sub-division.
He disclosed that he collected the suspected opium from one Mr Kappu, a Myanmar National at the border and he (Holngam) was hired for transporting the illicit drug.
On weighing, the suspected opium was found to weigh 6.167 Kgs.
The suspected opium was seized at 2 pm and packed and sealed in the presence of SDM Sangaikot and other witnesses and the individual was formally arrested at 2.10 pm by observing formalities.
A case was also registered in connection with the seizure at Churachand-pur police station.
