NCC ADG meets CM, education minister

National Cadet Corps North East Region (NER) additional director general Major General Gagan Deep called on chief minister N Biren Singh and education minister Th Basanta Kumar on Wednesday and discussed various NCC related issues.
The ADG updated the chief minister that 23 cadets from Manipur participated in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi and said this achievement is the best amongst all states in the country in ratio to the number of cadets who participated and the number of NCC cadets enrolled in the state.
From his side, CM Biren asked the ADG to consider release of more NCC vacancies for Manipur, especially for border area districts to which the ADG apprised Biren that in-principle approval has been accorded by NCC Director General.
Though there is plan to almost double the strength of NCC in Manipur it would require posting of deficient civilian staff to NCC HQ and units, and requested the CM to continue his support for NCC in the state.
Gagan Deep also met Education minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh and discussed important NCC related issues, especially inclusion of NCC as an elective subject in colleges, Border Area Expansion and posting of deficient Civilian Staff, etc.
The minister also complimented the ADG for the excellent spirit and motivation of NCC cadets, which he witnessed in Painting Competition organised as a part of Parakram Diwas and the January 26 State Parade in which the NCC Cadets won first and second prizes.
The ADG then apprised Basanta that he shared his vision of personality development of NCC cadets and will be conducting some courses for the cadets in coordination with experts in the near future.
Gagandeep also addressed NGC staff and cadets in the Group Headquarters and expressed his pride for their exceptional performance in winning almost all North East Region NCC Inter Group Competitions in the past nine months.
He impressed upon the cadets that they had immense potential and need to be more confident of their abilities.
He also apprised all cadets about many initiatives undertaken by NER and motivated them to exploit national level opportunities provided and motivated deserving cadets and ANOs who have excelled in many national level com petitions by awarding prizes.
The ADG congratulated all participants of the Republic Day parade and motivated them.
ANO Lt Sunitbala, who displayed utmost sincerity, discipline and dedication while accompanying 150 strong NER contingent to Rajasthan; cadet Miranda Thongam, who was selected for Youth Exchange Program to visit Vietnam; cadet S Nandarani Devi, all 65 (M) Girls Bn and SUO Bishoprem Singh of 14 (M) Bn who brought laurels to the state in many shooting competitions at National level; Second Officer T Bobby Singh of 14 (M) Bn who was instrumental in preparing state cadets for participation in Republic Day Parade in New Delhi for sixth time in a row; and 23 cadets who were selected for Republic Day Parade in New Delhi were congratulated and felicitated by the ADG in the event.
