NCC set to expand in State

Major General Gagan Deep, Additional Director General, North East Region Directorate, met Chief Minister N Biren Singh today and discussed various NCC related issues with him.The ADG updated the Chief Minister that 23 cadets from Manipur participated in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi, according to a press release issued by the PRO (Defence), Kohima and Imphal.
If one compares the number of cadets who participated and number of NCC cadets enrolled in the State, this achievement is the best amongst all States in the country, the ADG said.
The Chief Minister asked the ADG to consider release of more NCC vacancies for Manipur, specially for the border area districts.

The ADG apprised N Biren that based on his earlier request, in-principle approval has been accorded by the Director General NCC.
He had plans to almost double the strength of NCC in Manipur State, however this would require posting of deficient civilian staff to NCC Hqs and units, and requested the Chief Minister to kindly continue his support for NCC in the State.
Major General Gagan Deep also met Education Minister, Th Basanta Kumar Singh, and discussed important NCC related issues, specially inclusion of NCC as an elective subject in colleges, border area expansion, and posting of deficient civilian staff, etc.
The Education Minister complimented the ADG for the excellent spirit and motivation of NCC cadets, which he witnessed in the painting competition organised as part of Parakram Diwas and the 26 January State Parade in which the NCC cadets won the 1st and 2nd prizes.
The ADG apprised the Education Minister that he shared his vision of personality development of the NCC cadets, and would be conducting some courses for cadets in coordination with experts.
The ADG then addressed NCC staff and cadets in the Group Headquarters, and he told the gathering that he is extremely happy with the performance of the NCC cadets of Manipur, who have won almost all North East Region NCC inter-group competitions in the past nine months.
He impressed upon the cadets that they had immense potential, and they needed to be more confident of their own abilities.
