Met Outer MP, Union minister; waiting for PM: MSPP

Manipur State Panchyat Parishad (MSPP) president Md Abdul Latif has informed that as part of the agitation launched in Delhi against non-release of pending MGNREGS fund for financial year 2021-2022 by Manipur government, demanding timely conduct of 6th general Panchayat election and devolution of power to panchayat, a team of MSPP met Outer Manipur MP Lorho S Pfoze and Union minister for rural development and Panchayati raj Giriraj Singh on Wednesday and discussed the demands.
He also informed that MSPP is waiting for an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to draw his attention towards the matter.
Talking to TPC from Delhi in connection with the meeting, Abdul Latif informed that during the meeting with the union minister which was held in the presence of the Outer Manipur MP, a detailed discussion regarding the demands was held, after which minister Giriraj Singh directed the officials concerned to address the issue.
During the meeting, Giriraj Singh expressed dismay over the delay in releasing MGNREGS pending liability (wage component) for 2021-22 amounting to Rs 506 crore and instructed the officials concerned to take immediate action, he added.
Abdul Latif continued that though the Union minister has agreed to the demands, MSPP will not stop its protest until the.
demands are fulfilled.
As such, as a next step in connection with the agitation they are trying to get an appointment with the PM.
He also thanked the three MPs of the state for extending their support to the organisation.
It may be mentioned that MSPP representatives have been camping and protesting in Delhi since February 1 after the state government failed to implement the demands till the end of January.
