Ex-minister Leitanthem Tomba no more

Thoubal, September 22 2021:
Former minister and member of Manipur Legislative Assembly Leit-anthem Tomba passed away on Wednesday morning at his Thoubal bazar residence.
He was 88 years old.
Elected four times from Thoubal assembly constituency, Tomba alias EO Tomba, was minister of Sericulture, Labour & Employment, Social Welfare and Education.
Born on January 9, 1933, Tomba was elected for the first time in 1984 as a Janata Party candidate.
He also won on MPP ticket in 1995, MSCP in 2000 and Federal Party of Manipur in 2002, and became a cabinet minister for three terms.
Election committee of Konsam Michael, who is preparing to contest the upcoming 12 Assembly election in Thoubal AC convened an emergency condolence meeting at his Thoubal Melaground residence on Wednesday during which a two-minute silence was observed in honour of the departed soul.
Tomba, who joined service as extension officer after completing BA from DM College, before foraying into electoral political, was very fond of writing and sports.
