SK Women's College CHIC closes

The Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) opened at SK Women's College, Nambol since May 10 to house Covid-19 patients of Nambol assembly constituency who do not have home isolation facility, has ceased functioning with effect from Wednesday.
The closing function of the centre run by Covid-19 Awareness and Enforcement Committee for Nambol AC was attended by MPCC president and Nambol MLA N Loken Singh, CMO (Bishnupur) Dr N Gyaneshor, SDO (Nambol) Kherdananda Potshangbam, College principal Dr W Robindro Singh and Community Health Centre, Nambol MO Dr Robinson as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA N Loken informed that though the CHIC has been closed subsequent to significant fall in the number of Covid cases, the facility will resume operation if the need arises in future.
He also asserted that even if the third wave of the pandemic hits the state, the Committee is prepared to do the needful.
It may be mentioned that the CHIC was opened for 134 days with only 100 beds in the initial stages but the number of beds was increased to 192 to accommodate more patients.
The CHIC had a total of 475 male patients, 474 females and one transgender and they were looked after by 156 attendants including 79 female caregivers.
