Senapati, September 22 2021:
Naga People's Organization (NPO) has prohibited inauguration of unfinished water supply projects that are under construction in the district headquarters.
In a statement, NPO reasoned that decision to oppose inauguration of incomplete projects was taken based on its Grievances Cell carrying out inspection of the ongoing water supply projects that are nearing completion and waiting for inauguration in the district headquarters.
The inspection was reportedly undertaken in order to facilitate the inauguration of the projects in Senapati district headquarters.
During the inspection, the team found that 3 to 4 zonal reservoirs are under construction while one is yet to be started and works on around 50-60 distributor nowhere in the picture.
As zonal reservoirs and distribution tanks are yet to be completed, there is no initiation to lay the pipes.
The approach road to the main source was also found to be incomplete, it said while adding that transportation of materials to zonal reservoirs/ distribution tanks was found disrupted due to the prevailing inclement weather.
Earlier, various frontal organisations of the district including NPO, SDWA and SDSA had prohibited inauguration of any incomplete projects implemented by either central or state government under its "Developmental Projects" programme in the district.
Such moves in the name of development are unjust and unfair, the NPO said, and conveyed that they will welcome, cooperate and give full support to inauguration of project only when it is completed.
In the past, many developmental projects at many places in the district were inaugurated before completion leaving them unattended, it maintained.
