Imphal, September 22 2021:
Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) would be observing the 6th 'Republic Day' of Manipur on October 18 along with a public meeting to commemorate the day on which the state had its first democratically elected government before merger with the Indian Union.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at its office premises here on Wednesday, CCSK president Jeetendra Ningombam said that October 18,1948 was the day when Manipur installed its first democratically elected government after attaining independence from the British colonial rule.
CCSK has been observing the day every year but this year, the observance will be held on a grander scale by involving a public meet keeping in view of the 2022 state assembly election, he said.
The public meet will not only discuss the way forward to bring peace and development in the state but will also discuss about choosing the right candidate and electing the right representative, he said while urging the public and different political parties to support the public meet.
