Imphal, September 18 2022:
Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) in collaboration with Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO) and Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI), observed "World Patient Safety Day" on the theme 'Medication without harm' at SHRI auditorium on Saturday.
Speaking as the chief guest, JNIMS MS Dr Lokeshwar Khumukcham remarked that often times, when a disease breaks but in remote areas, the number of fatalities is quite high.
This is due to patients delaying treatment while hoping for the ailment to go away on its own and lack of knowledge of precautionary measures which could have been taken up prior to getting sick.
He then said that with the emergence of new ailments, the world has also worked harder to produce medicines to treat the diseases.
Thus, doctors and nurses must have knowledge of the usage and storage of the new medicines, in addition to maintaining good doctor/nurse-patient relationship, as a form of preventive measure against the new diseases.
Presided over by AHPI president Dr Palin Khundongbam, the function was also attended by Trained Nurses Association of India president N Tangbi as guest of honour.
