Imphal, March 03 2022:
CPI Manipur State Council has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to press the presidents of Russia and Ukraine to declare ceasefire and initiate peace dialogue.
In a statement, CPI said that the party has been urging all concerned to intervene in the Russia-Ukraine war and bring peace through dialogue.
War will never resolve anything and PM Modi should not only mount pressure for a ceasefire between the two countries but also urge US and NATO to refrain from any policy that will deepen the crisis.
It also alleged that US is interfering and creating the situation by its attempt to rope in Ukraine as NATO member.
The statement lauded the Government of India for its stand on the resolution of the United Nations and evacuating Indians from the conflict zone.
It, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the reports of Ukrainian army holding several Indians hostage, and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up immediate measures to find out missing Indians and evacuate them at any cost.
