Firing sparked violence: Committee

BJP candidate in Sugnu A/C Mayanglambam Binod Women Election Committee contended that election-related violence in Kakching Khunou area on Wednesday night was fallout of firing by Congress workers.
Speaking to media persons at Binod's located Kakching Khunou Angom Leikai residence on Thursday, Committee member Mayanglambam Beni Devi informed that the committee members went to several Meira Shang (shed), where women supporters of Binod gathered, so as to check their inadequacies.
While visiting the sheds, they found several vehicles parked improperly on the road near Congress election camp opened at the residence of one Thingnam Rishikesh at Thingam Ningthou Leikai.
Congress supporters used strong languages, when they tried to pass the road by avoiding the vehicles.
Subsequently, some youths of BJP argued with them, she recalled, while adding that gunshots were then fired from inside the gate of Rishikesh's house.
Upon hearing the gunshots, people thronged at the place and the incident occurred, she continued, while condemning the threat to the people by firing.
