Electioneering for 2nd phase ends

Electioneering for the second phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election scheduled on Saturday ended today.
Hectic electioneering activities were seen across all the 22 Assembly segments before the commencement of silence period.
10 Assembly segments of Thoubal and Kakching districts, two Assembly segments of Chandel and Tengnoupal districts, three of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, three of Senapati, three of Tamenglong and Noney districts and one of Jiribam district are going to polls on March 5 .
Altogether 92 candidates including two women are contesting for the 22 seats.
CPI's Yengkhom Roma and BJP's SS Olish are contesting the election in Kakching AC and Chandel AC respectively.
Ex-Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi is also fighting the election in Thoubal AC.
The candidates fighting for the 22 seats include 22 from BJP, 18 from Congress, 11 from NPP, 10 each from JD-U and NPF, three from RPI-A, two each from NCP and Shiv Sena, one each from CPI and Rashtriya Janhit Sangharsh Party and 12 Independents.
There are 8,47,400 voters in the 22 Assembly segments including 4,18,401 male, 4,28,968 female and 31 transgender.
The 22 Assembly segments has 8381 service voters (8670 male and 289 female) .
There are 1247 polling stations in the 22 Assembly segments including six which have been added as auxiliary stations.
