"At Kalapahar I saw security personnel stopping vehicles and inquired about it.
The personnel said they were conducting frisking and asked me to open the back door of my vehicle.
I politely opened the door and told them to do their duty", he added.
He continued that when he disclosed his identity as the general secretary of KSO Sadar Hills, the commando personnel in an unexpected and undesirable response allegedly told him how big is the KSO and started assaulting him without any reason.
According to the medical report, the general secretary suffered a ruptured eardrum owing to slapping.
Thangtinlen Haokip also alleged that the commando personnel even attempted to throw away the KSO General Headquarters flag inside his car.
Addressing a press meet held at KSO Sadar Hills Office in Kangpokpi, K Songreng, spokesperson of KSO Sadar Hills stated that even with all the tall claims made by the Chief Minister on improvement of law and order in the state, people of Kangpokpi district are still engulfed with fear when they see security forces.
Condemning the assault of KSO Sadar Hills general secretary, K Songreng cautioned that if the authorities concerned failed to take appropriate action upon the commando personnel involved in the assault within two days, intense forms of agitation will be initiated in collaboration with the public.
"If the public in the hill district could not tolerate even their (police commandos) presence, it is impossible to tolerate their high handedness and misuse of power upon innocent civilians, especially upon a civil society organization's leader who is working day and night tirelessly for the welfare of the people", he asserted.
The KSO Sadar Hills further pointed its fingers at the district police over the presence of police commandos in their jurisdiction in the hill district of Kangpokpi while questioning the district police's capability in dealing with the law and order situation of the district.
