Imphal, March 03 2022:
Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) has called for thorough investigation and urged to provide befitting punishments as per law to all the perpetrators involved in the case of seizure of 34 kg of opium from a vehicle which is registered under an MLA on March 2 from Lamlai area.
CADA in a press release strongly denounced the involvement of a people's representative who had also served as a Minister in drug trafficking case and termed it really unfortunate.
CADA further maintained that people of the State have expressed doubt on many occasions that the people's representatives after acquiring power have resorted to drug trafficking to earn huge sums of money easily.
However drug trafficking cases have been suppressed by letting free the perpetrators who are directly involved in such crimes since those in power are into the illegal business of drug trafficking which has led to the existence of Fast Track Courts established to solve such cases just for namesake without any authority.
Raising allegations that since no stern punishments are provided to the perpetrators of such crimes by the Government and authorities concerned, CADA said that it has led to the rise of illegal drug trafficking which is engulfing the society.
Lastly CADA called for collective stand to tackle the issue of substance abuse in the State for the well being of all.
