Pre-poll violence rocks Wangjing Tentha AC

In a string of pre-poll violent incidents in Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency, unknown miscreants pelted stones and opened fire at five houses in various parts of Wangjing on Wednesday night.
The houses that were targeted belong to Salam Tomba of Wangjing Canteen, Yumnam Mahendra Kumar of Wangjing Sk Leikai, Moirangthem Inaotombi of Wangjing Bazar, RK Manisana of Wangjing Heituppokpi and Kh Manichandra of Wangjing Sk.
Shots were also fired at the houses of Salam Tomba and RK Manisana.
In condemnation of the attacks, an impromptu protest demonstration was taken out by the locals demanding authority concerned to take prompt action against the perpetrators.
Addressing a press meet in connection with the incident on Thursday, Wangjing Tentha Youth Congress chief advisor P Sanatomba regretted that election-related violence has been unleashed in Wangjing Tentha AC.
Such cases of pelting stones and firing of at the houses of innocent people should not be repeated.
People should be allowed to vote for candidate of their choice without any fear or threat, he emphasised.
In another suspected elected-related attack, unknown persons lobbed a petrol bomb at the house of Naorem Jitendra of Tentha Khongban under Wangjing Tentha AC around 2:23 am on Thursday causing damage to outhouse.
N Jitendra's wife N Chaobiyaima, who is also 34/4 BJP Women Committee secretary, stated that there has been an increase in violent incidents in Tentha area.
While condemning the attack, she also recounted that their house was vandalised in the last by-election.
Government must take action immediately to ensure that one can freely campaign and vote for candidate of their choice, she said and demanded deployment of security personnel in adequate number to prevent recurrence of all unwanted incidents.
