Imphal, May 28 2023:
The violent activ-ities being witnessed are not among any of the 34/35 communities settling in Ma-nipur but a war waged by the illegal immigrants from across the border against the indigenous people of the state, stated North East Peo-ple's Organisation (NEPO).
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, NEPO secretary general L Ibomcha informed that the Zomi Revolution-ary Army (ZRA) president Thanglianpau Guite is an ex-MP of Chin state in Myanmar, ZRA vice presi-dent cum general secretary Khenchin from Chin state, Kuki National Army (KNA) chairman PS Haokip is of Burmese origin presently residing in Nagaland, while Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) president David Hangshing and Kuki Nation-al Front (KNF) and United People's Front (UPF) chair-man Thangboi Kipgen have their roots in Myanmar.

David Hangshing and Thangboi Kipgen are re-spectively married to an MLA of Manipur and a min-ister in the present N Biren government, he said.
Further stating these leaders of Kuki militant groups are orchestrating attacks on the indigenous people of Manipur and try-ing to balkanise the state on ethnic lines, the secretary general contended that the New Checkon incident on May 27 is as an attempt to create discord among the different communities set-tling in the area.
L Ibomcha further ap-pealed to the state and cen-tral governments to take up measures to bring an amica-ble solution to the prevailing situation in the state.
