Bishnupur, May 28 2023:
Under the aegis of Apunba Lup Ningthouk-hong, womenfolk staged sit-in protest at Ningthouk-hong Bazar on Sunday to denounce the killing of Toijam Chandramani, who was displaced from Churachandpur town due to the conflict, by armed Kuki militants and the al-leged silence of the state government.
The protesters also ex-pressed disappointment over central forces deployed in the periphery allowing Kuki militants to indulge in unlawful activities right in their presence.
Speaking to the media, Lup advisor RK Tombisana regretted that the central forces which the central government rushed into the state to contain the com-munal clash that broke out on May 3 are supporting armed Kuki militants and encouraging unlawful ac-tivities rather than protect-ing the innocent civilians.
Demanding the government to take up swift action to restore normalcy, the ad-visor asserted that external elements challenging the emotional and integrity of Manipur will not be tol-erated.
During the protest, the agitators held placards inscribed as "We want justice", "We want stern action against Kuki mili-tants", Scrap suspension of operation agreement", etc., and raised slogans - "Long live Manipur", " Challenge on emotional and integrity of Manipur will not be tolerated", "Go back Kuki militants", etc.
